She Doesn’t Know

She was not discovered on a TV screen,
Or on the cover of a magazine so,
She wouldn’t know.

And shame on me for thinking things could change.
Guess everybody’d label me “deranged” but,
She doesn’t know.

She doesn’t know.
She doesn’t know.

It’s not my fault, I think I’m wired to love.
Look at the pictures of the angels above but,
They never know.

I’m done with one and then I’m on to the next.
Another victim of my love and affection,
She doesn’t know.

I’ll keep it quiet and I’ll keep it cordial.
I’ve dealt with unrequited love before and,
The less she knows, the better, If we want to stay together.
Everyone pretend befriending doesn’t beget spending time in love with someone.

I play the game but I will never win.
You know an angel, she’ll believe in sin but,
She’ll never know.

My words are convoluted all of the time now.
My fingers filling in between every line but,
She doesn’t know.

Maybe she knows, but she will just pretend,
That she is clueless, so she will not offend me.
If she ignores it, it’ll go away.
I bet she’s thinking now that any day,
I’m gonna’ stop the things I do and say,
And find another girl to be my prey.

She doesn’t know.
